Ovulation Pain

1 in 5 women feel ovulation pain, often misunderstood. It's linked to follicle growth and egg release, varying monthly. Lasting minutes to days, it's akin to mild period pain. Understanding your cycle matters!
Ovulation Pain

About 1 in 5 women can experience ovulation pain according to an article on Clearblue, reviewed by Dr. Sarah Johnson.

I know I feel it, but it helps that I know where I am in my cycle, and I know what it means. Many women aren't paying attention and subconsciously they may feel a little discomfort and could put it down to something else.

There are several explanations for the cause of ovulation pain. Just prior to ovulation, follicle growth may stretch the surface of the ovary, causing pain. At the time of ovulation, fluid or blood is released from the ruptured egg follicle and may cause irritation of the follicle lining.

Because we ovulate from a different ovary each month, pain may be felt on one side one month and on the other side the next. It depends on which ovary is releasing the egg.

Typically, the pain will last for a couple of minutes but can last up to 24-48 hours.

Personally, for me, it feels like a very mild period pain and sometimes if I stand up or move too quickly, I can get a sharp pain in the ovaries.

I know I found this all very, very interesting when I first discovered this information, so I thought you might like it too.
